Pick Up After Yourself! by Howard Ji

Each year there are around 1.9 billion trash end up in the ocean so pick up after yourself. You can grab a trash bag and go outside and pick up trash.
There is more than 2,500,000,000,000 pounds or 2.5 billion metric tons in the ocean.  That’s a lot of trash.
There is a Pacific trash island is more than twice the size of Texas. There is 79 tons or 79,000 of plastic in the Pacific island alone. The trash gets carried away in rivers into the ocean and it might end up in the Pacific trash island. There are some projects trying to clean up the plastic in the ocean. There project is starting from San Francisco. The Pacific trash island looks like a plastic island that’s thousands of miles of plastic.
Turtles might think plastic bags is their favorite food jellyfish. Birds might think some small plastic things and give it to their chicks. They both animals can die, and many more animals. 100 million marine animals are killed each year by plastic waste. If it's 10 years past there might be more than 100 million marine animals died. There are a few videos of people cut open a bird and count how many pieces of plastic. They might turn extinct. If you’re an animal lover, you should care about the world too. We need to save the animals too. The earth is a cycle we need to clean up!
